September 15th is
World Lymphoma Awareness Day
- Lymphoma is a general term for cancer of the lymphatic system.
- There are many different sub-types of lymphoma, which are divided into 2 main types: Hodgkin lymphoma (Hodgkin disease) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
- The exact cause of lymphoma remains unknown. Some forms are more likely to develop in people who have taken drugs to prevent rejection after an organ transplant or who have reduced immunity. It is thought that certain chemicals in insecticides and wood preserving materials may cause lymphoma.
- There are more than 1 million people in the world living with lymphoma. |
